Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, known for its high standard for care and leadership in research, needed a theme for their 2010 Annual Report, and we wanted to give them one that really spoke to the great work that they do and was fresh and new.
We chose the theme ‘Are We There Yet?’ for the report, because it’s clear that the hospital is committed to a never-ending journey of advancement and progress—they never seem to stop striving to “get there.”
We really wanted to show how dedicated they are to great care, so we decided to get as many photos as possible. We worked closely with the wonderful team at the hospital to schedule the shoots and find real patients who were willing to model, and it paid off. The images really display how much Cincinnati Children’s cares for their patients. In order to keep the focus on the children and allow their stories to shine through, we chose to pare down the design somewhat; we left most of the space on the pages for hospital news, and grouped the captions together on one page instead of placing them by each individual photo.
As for the technical side of things, we gave the images a slightly muted tone, and the piece was printed on uncoated paper. Printed on RR Donnelly’s new state-of-the-art printer, the finished product is really extraordinary.
